GameEx is completely free for personal use, and will likely stay that way.

GameEx has taken at least 6,000 hours to develop and support, is in active development, and is actively supported. 

The time spent is mostly my own and I expect no additional reward as I've enjoyed it immensely and am still on a buzz! It does however cost me money to host this site, the downloads, and forums. I've also spent several thousand dollars on paying others to implement things in gameex that either I did not have time to do or found a little tricky. In addition development tools cost money, and so does modern and legacy hardware to test and fix compatibility.
