GameEx requires the .net Framework 2.0 and DirectX 9 or above to run.

You can get the .net framework 2.0 here
You can get Direct X 9.0C from Microsoft here:

Windows Media Player version 9 or above is also required.
You can get the latest version of Media Player by going to windows update.

If your running Windows 98 or windows 2000 you will also need Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC) 2.6 or above. You can get 2.8 here

GameEx does however feature an advanced install program, which detects if the above components are not installed and can automatically download them for you.

Also for your peace of mind, the actual GameEx files themselves in the install, do not change, update or add any files, libraries, or system files at all other than ones that are purely in the Program Files\GameEx folder. It does register a couple of custom ActiveX controls, but again these are only located in the Program Files\GameEx folder.

The default themes and emulator databases can be downloaded below. These are by default downloaded and installed when installing GameEx, but provided here in case you want to do a complete offline install. 7-Zip file. Download to within the gameex folder (normally c:\program files\gameex) and extract with  7-Zip, WinRar, or WinAce. Use the extract here option in your archive tool.
